Spam defense: definition, history, ethics, and defense tactics
These pages are about tools and techniques for finding what you want on the Internet, while trying to keep your mailbox from being buried in "spam" email. My spam page even covers why we call it spam.
TinyURL.com is a handy service sometimes. Let's say you want to email someone a link to something interesting, but the real page URL is one of those dynamic addresses that's like three feet long, that probably won't work as is. TinyURL gives you a short URL that will link to the page; don't ask me how. You can paste in the long URL on their site, or they offer a JavaScript bookmarklet you can drag to a Links (IE) or Bookmarks (Firefox) toolbar, and then you can generate a TinyURL with one mouse click.
