To determine which version of Microsoft Windows you have,* right-click the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties from the menu, to open the System Properties dialog box. Your Windows version should be identified on the General tab under System.

If there is no My Computer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Run, clear out any text you find in the Open box, type explorer and click OK to open Windows Explorer. Scroll up the left side Folders pane if necessary to display the My Computer entry, right-click it, and proceed as above.
